Meeting with Shri. Nitin Jairam Gadkari ji, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India at Jansampark Karyalaya, Nagpur on 11th February 2024

Shri. Arvind R. Doshi, Chairman; Shri. Prasad R. Masurkar, Hon. Secretary, NSC-MC, Shri Yogesh Ambe, Road Safety Consultant and Shri Prashant Kakade, Program Coordinator, Central Institute of Road Transport, Pune were present for the meeting.

During the meeting, we handed over a copy of the “Guidelines & SOPs on Road Safety for Industries” and briefed him about the document and also discussed a few proposals including the draft proposal of the MOU with MoRTH, NSC-MC & CIRT for conducting training on Road Safety (including safe transportation of dangerous (or) hazardous goods).

Collaboration between United Way Mumbai & National Safety Council - Maharashtra Chapter for Road Safety project in Mumbai


The goal of this project is to enhance road safety in Mumbai through collaboration and collective action. The strategy adopted for the project includes:

 
  • To provide safe and defensive driving trainings to the drivers
  • To create Road Safety Clubs among colleges, CBO's and NGO's working with the youth, community youth groups, etc. This will engage the youth as ambassadors of road safety thereby helping to spread awareness on road safety among their peers and neighbourhood
  • Organising annual event/competition by engaging the youth to spread road safety awareness
  • Training of drivers and trainers in Mumbai. To educate and sensitise the existing drivers and trainers with know-how of safe road usage, so that they will impart the same skills to the trainees
  • Inputs from experts, Certification of training module, Regular coverage of activities, Sharing of existing educational resource materials and any other publications on the theme of road safety available with NSC-MC
